Jesus
said, “Let the children come to me and do not hinder them; for to such belongs
the kingdom of God. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of
God lie a child shall not enter it.”
Luke 18:15-17
Sacrament Preparation
Dear Parents, thank you for all you have done and continue
to do in the faith formation of your child.
You presented your child to be baptized, faithfully brought
your child to Mass, and taught your child how to pray. You have also made it
possible for your child to participate in our program of religious education.
All of these together form the necessary foundation for
sacrament preparation and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with your
child in the deepening their own relationship with Jesus Christ in the Holy
Spirit though the Sacrament of Confirmation.
As our year unfolds, please continue to take your child to
Mass faithfully every Sunday and support your child through your prayers and
good example.
Confirmation
Our focus here is on the candidates who are preparing for a
special outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of
Confirmation.
Our celebration of Confirmation will take place on
Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 7 p.m. with the Bishop Roger Gries, OSB.
As the year progresses, we will expect your child to
fulfill the requirements of our program of preparation as listed here.
- Consistently
attend Mass on Sundays
- Complete
all assigned course work
- Choose the name of a saint
- Write
a report about this saint
- Complete a Christian service project
- Attend
the Spirit Day retreat
- Choose a qualified sponsor
- Register
for Confirmation
Your child will be given timely information regarding these
requirements and sufficient time to complete them, as well as other specific
information about practices, dress code and the celebration of Confirmation
itself.
Again, thank you for all you do and continue to do to
encourage and support your child in their faith formation.
